The current law around the use of cannabis both restricts doctors in prescribing what, for many, is an excellent tool to manage pain and unnecessarily creates criminal penalties for non-violent offenders, too often People of Color.

  • I support recreational marijuana legalization that includes record expungement, a process for releasing non-violent offenders, and support for them as they transition out of the criminal justice system. I believe it’s important that we do that piece at the same time we legalize.
  • I support expanding the state’s medical cannabis program to allow doctors to prescribe medical cannabis to any patient they believe would see a medical value from it. This gives doctors more tools to help people manage pain and would reduce our use of opioids.
