I believe that housing is essential to our health, education, and employment. Incomes are not keeping pace with the increasing cost of housing, and we are facing a shortage in affordable housing. Every year we lose more naturally occurring affordable housing than we produce in affordable housing units. We must do more to ensure that all Minnesotans have a stable and affordable place to live.

  • I will propose and sign bonding bills annually, and I will commit to dedicating $100 million to affordable housing each year.
  • I will work to protect naturally occurring affordable housing that we lose each year due to conversions to non-affordable housing and to disrepair. I will work to slow down that conversion and to assure affordability.
  • I will work with communities throughout the state to ensure that their unique circumstances are addressed, because without affordable housing, communities and employers struggle to attract and retain a skilled and adequate workforce.
