SAINT PAUL, MN – Today, Rep. Erin Murphy (DFL-64A), former MN House Majority Leader and DFL candidate for governor, released the following statement on former governor Tim Pawlenty’s entry into the governor’s race.
“When Tim Pawlenty cut health care for homeless vets and people experiencing extreme poverty, I fought back and with a coalition of Minnesotans, protected the health care safety net for our state’s most vulnerable. And when he decided to run for President, Pawlenty left Minnesotans with a $6.2 billion budget deficit and our schools starved for funding. As Majority Leader, I was proud to turn that deficit into a surplus and pay back the money owed to schools.
“As the only DFL candidate for governor that’s beat Tim at his own political game and cleaned up the mess that he left Minnesotans, I would like to welcome him to the race. I’m confident my grassroots campaign that puts Minnesotans at the center of our politics in order to build a healthier, more just state, will provide a clear contrast to his Wall Street credentials and dismal record.”
